Q: How often should I be coming in for stretch sessions?
It really depends on how tight you are when we perform your initial visit. The American College of Sports Medicine recommends stretching each major muscle group 2-3x per week. Whether it be at The Mindful Touch or at home, adding stretching to your healthcare regimen will help your muscles and joints live a long healthy life.

Q: What’s the difference between me doing the stretches and you performing them for me?
Active stretching (you are stretching yourself) includes no external force. You use one muscle group to stretch another muscle group. With passive stretching an external force (a partner) is being used to generate the tension or stretch in the targeted muscle while opposing muscles are in a relaxed state – allowing for deeper flexible gains.

Q: What should I wear?
You stay fully clothed (loose fitting or stretchy clothing is best) and relaxed as your therapist performs the stretches tailored to your specific needs. There is no use of massage oils or creams. You will be able to change clothes in our (tiny) WC if you are coming from work. Please wear socks - did you know there are 250,000 sweat glands on your feet?
